This is a personal project of a construction worker in New York City. I choose to remain anonymous because I’m still currently employed as a construction worker and fear retaliation from not only my employer but the unions and coworkers as well.

There’s a macho culture in the construction industry that says safety is for whiners and those who are weak. You should man-up and do your job and get it done. The problem with this culture is that it makes speaking up about construction accidents and construction safety difficult.

For now I’ve asked some others with better writing skills to cover some broad topics of construction safety and accidents but plan on writing more first person accounts as I develop my writing skills.

If you’d like to write for us and have your thoughts/advice/opinions published on our website, please get in touch by using the contact form. As long as it aligns with our overall message, we will be happy to post it. If you own a similar website and would like to exchange links, please also get in touch.

Sincerely,

John the NYC Construction Worker Safety Advocate
